File Information
The file detail page shows key information at the top:
- Filename: The name of the file
- Status: Current processing stage (color-coded: green for success, red for errors)
- Received Date: When the file entered the system
- Transfer Route: Sender business unit → Receiver business unit
- Order Links: Clickable links to any connected orders (Connected Groups) associated with the file's transactions
File-to-Order Links
When a file's transactions are linked to orders (Connected Groups), the file detail header displays clickable order reference links. Each link shows the order's group identifier and navigates directly to the order detail page when clicked.
This two-way linking makes it easy to:
- Jump from a file to its related order to see the full shipment lifecycle
- Understand which orders a particular EDI file contributes to
- Trace a file back to the broader business context of an order
Tip: Order links appear in the file header alongside the transfer route. If a file has transactions linked to multiple orders, each order is shown as a separate clickable link.
Viewing File Content
How file content is displayed depends on the file type:
EDI Files (X12 / EDIFACT)
EDI files are shown with two tabs:
- Structured EDI View: A hierarchical view of the EDI structure showing the ISA envelope (sender/receiver IDs, control number, date), groups (GS segments), and individual transactions. Click on a transaction to see its full segment details.
- Raw File: The original file content with segment separators. Use the copy button to copy the content to your clipboard. For files in error status, you can edit the content and click "Update File" to reprocess it.
Non-EDI Files (CSV, XML, JSON, and More)
Modalius can also display non-EDI file formats in a structured text view. Supported text-based formats include:
- CSV - Comma-separated value files
- XML - Extensible Markup Language files
- JSON - JavaScript Object Notation files
- Plain text - Standard text files
These files are rendered in a readable text view with copy-to-clipboard functionality, rather than requiring you to download them first. For files in error status, you can also edit the content directly and resubmit.
Embedded File Previews
Image files (JPEG, PNG, GIF, SVG, and others) and PDF documents are displayed as an embedded preview directly on the page, so you can view them without downloading.
For any file type that cannot be rendered as text or embedded preview, you can always download the file using the Download button.
Processing History
The Processing History card shows a timeline of everything that happened to this file:
- When it was received
- Each processing stage completed
- Any errors encountered (shown in red)
- Delivery confirmation
Each history entry shows the date, log level (success, information, warning, or error), category, and a message describing what happened. Click on any history entry to see the full details.
File Actions
Depending on the file status, you may see action buttons:
- Download: Save a copy of the file to your computer
- Update File: Edit the raw content and resubmit (available for files in error status)
- Copy to Clipboard: Copy the file content to your clipboard for pasting elsewhere
Note: The Update File option is only available for files that are in a modifiable state (typically files in an error status). This lets you correct issues in the file content and resubmit it for processing.
