SFTP credentials allow external systems to send files to your Modalius business unit automatically. Each business unit has its own unique credentials.
Finding Your Credentials
- Navigate to Organization > Business Units
- Select the business unit you need credentials for
- Find the SFTP Credentials section
Credential Information
You'll see the following information:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Server Address | The SFTP server hostname to connect to |
| Port | The connection port (usually 22) |
| Username | Your business unit's SFTP username |
| Password | Your business unit's SFTP password (use View Secret to reveal) |
| Private Key | SSH private key for key-based authentication |
Viewing the Password (View Secret)
For security, the SFTP password is hidden by default. To view it:
- Click the Reveal button next to the Secret field
- The password will be displayed in plain text
- Use the copy button to copy it to your clipboard
Tip: Viewing the secret is recorded in the credential's activity log for auditing purposes.
Credential Status
Each credential displays a status indicator:
- Active - The credential is currently assigned to one or more connections and is in use
- Inactive - The credential is not currently attached to any active connection
Additionally, credentials may show expiry warnings if they have an expiration date set, including Expiring Soon (within 14 days) and Expired states.
Using These Credentials
Provide these credentials to:
- External systems that need to send you files
- Partners who will push files to your business unit
- Your IT team for automated integrations
Security Note: Keep your password confidential. Only share credentials with authorized parties. Regenerate credentials if they may have been compromised.
Testing the Connection
Use an SFTP client (like FileZilla or WinSCP) to test:
- Enter the server address and port
- Enter your username and password (or use the private key)
- Connect and verify you can access your directory
Permission Required
You need the View SFTP Credentials permission to view credentials. Contact your administrator if you can't see this section.
