Modalius displays shipment tracking information on an interactive map, giving you a visual representation of where your shipment is and where it's been.
Accessing the Map
- Navigate to Orders
- Click on an order with tracking data
- The map is displayed in the order details view
Understanding the Map
The map shows several elements:
- Origin marker - Where the shipment started (shipper/pickup location)
- Destination marker - Where the shipment is going (consignee/delivery location)
- Event markers - Intermediate stops along the route (terminals, customs, etc.)
- Current location marker - The shipment's most recent reported position (pulsing animation)
Route Lines
The map displays two types of route lines:
- Actual route (solid line) - The path the shipment has already traveled, based on event locations
- Estimated route (dashed line) - The planned path from current location to destination
Interacting with the Map
- Zoom - Use scroll wheel or +/- buttons to zoom in and out
- Pan - Click and drag to move around the map
- Click markers - View details about each location
The map automatically zooms to fit all markers with appropriate padding when you open an order.
When is Map Data Available?
Map tracking requires:
- 214 (Shipment Status) transactions with location data
- Geographic information in the EDI (city/state or GPS coordinates)
Note: Not all shipments include detailed tracking. If no map appears, location data may not be available for that shipment. This depends on what information the carrier provides in their status updates.
Completed Shipments
For orders that have been delivered or invoiced, the current location marker is hidden since the shipment is no longer in transit. The map will still show:
- Origin and destination markers
- The complete actual route traveled
- All intermediate event markers
